Camera/memory card experts?
I have a Nikon D5000 and recently got a 16 GB memory card off of ebay. It all worked fine for a few days, but today, as I was in the middle of taking pictures, a message popped up on the camera saying, “Cannot format memory card. Card may be defective. Insert another card.” I’ve turned the camera off and on and popped the memory card out then back in, but the message keeps popping up. What could have caused this? Is there a way to fix it?
Did you get the card alarmingly cheap? It might be a fake and reporting to your camera that it’s a 16GB card when in fact it’s about a gigabyte. Buy one from Fry’s/Best Buy/Walmart and try again.
