Nikon Coolpix P90 Cases
Nikon Coolpix P90 Cases

I’m going to Europe and have questions about taking my camera?
I’ve been trying to decide what camera I should take, the small pocket sized one with objectionable picture quality or the big Nikon with great quality. I decided on the Nikon, but I was wondering if it’s advisable to bring it. It is a large camera (with a large carrying case) and could it be a problem in London and Paris with thieves and the hassle of carrying such a large item? (It’s a Nikon Coolpix P90) I’m going for about two weeks. Also, what’s the deal with taking a camera through customs?
Lots of people travel with good big digital cameras, and as long as you can proof you bought it before the travel and not while abroad customs will not worry about it. Your camera shop should have given you papers with the name of the camera, date of purchase and the price paid. A copy of that should do.
I stopped traveling with my big camera years ago as I was so tired of having it around my neck all the time.
I was reasonably happy with my first and second digital point and shoot cameras, but now I am perfectly happy with my little canon, which just slips into my pocket, and still makes good photos. But each his/her own choice.
Take your camera a day into town where you live, have it around your neck all day while you still carry the case, that is most likely what you will do in London and Paris, as there are so many photo moments.
If you find it very annoying, it is not your way of traveling.
Many people do it, find it worth the effort.
You could look for the kind of camera case that is a backpack, but remember that if there is easy access to you, there is also for thieves.
Or you could find a backpack that fits around your current case, if possible a well used one, that does not shout CAMERA, so thieves will just ignore it when you are carrying it. That is what I would do if I wanted to bring a big and expensive camera with me.
Harder to get your things out, but that also goes for thieves.
