I was wondering if I should I trust Ebay.?

I’m thinking of getting my first SLR. I was going to buy a kit off of Ebay (body and lense). I heard, though, I shouldn’t do this because the lense will be scratched and I will be ripped off. Well, I agree with that but I was thinking if what if I’d buy from one of those like “good dealers” were they don’t rip you off and they are like companies. Here is an example(s):

Well, that’s basiclly it. Thanks for reading.
I KNOW WHAT CAMERA I WANT (THE EXAMPLES ARE JUST EXAMPLES!!!)

Before you buy anything on ebay, I would check prices from other places, either locally or online (like amazon, B&H, Adorama, Abes of Maine, KEH, etc.). Sometimes the prices are the same as the ebay merchants (or close to it), and you don’t have to worry about unscrupulous ebay sellers (there are a lot).

I find many things on ebay overpriced, and buyers will start these ridiculous bidding wars and end up paying more for something on ebay than they would have paid for locally. Sometimes sellers will have their friends bid in order to drive up the price (I think I may have experienced this a few times).

You should at least know your price limit (maximum bid) and stick to it no matter what. If you get outbid I guarantee it will show up again for sale.
